Lanka Sathosa has confirmed price reductions on 18 essential food items, effective June 10th. Minister of Trade, Commerce, Food Security, and Cooperative Development, Vasantha Senanayake, stated that the prices will be set below Pettah wholesale prices to provide relief to the public. The price cuts apply to items including big onions, white sugar, red lentils (dhal), cowpea, chickpeas, green gram, cashew nuts, wheat flour, and several varieties of rice such as red kekulu rice, red Nadu, Samba, white Nadu, and Ponni Samba.
