Lanka Salt General Manager Rathnayaka Mudiyanselage Gunaratne has been released on two surety bails of Rs. 5 million each by the Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court. He was arrested by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) over allegations of causing a loss of approximately Rs. 14.3 million to the government by procuring packaging for the Hambantota Salt Company without following proper procurement procedures. The court also imposed a travel ban on the GM, ordering the surrender of his passport.
