The silt gate of the Kotmale Gamini Dissanayake Reservoir was opened for approximately 30 minutes yesterday (May 5th). This action was taken to clear a significant accumulation of silt that entered the reservoir following Cyclone 'Ditwa'. Before opening, residents downstream and relevant state institutions were informed, and a small water flow of 90 cubic meters per second was released. The reservoir's water capacity is currently at 27.7% due to prevailing dry weather in the catchment areas.
