The Department of Meteorology has reported significant rainfall across Sri Lanka, with Kesbewa recording the highest amount at 204 millimetres over the past 22 hours. Other areas also experienced heavy downpours, including Veyangoda (145.5mm), Wathupitiwala (105.5mm), Gilimale (121mm), Bandaragama (102.5mm), and Horana (101.5mm). The Met. Department has issued an advisory for heavy rainfall and potential strong lightning affecting the Western, Sabaragamuwa, North Western, Northern provinces, and the districts of Trincomalee, Galle, and Matara. Authorities are monitoring the weather situation.

New reports indicate Kirindiwela recorded the highest rainfall of 244 mm in the 24-hour period ending 4:00 AM on May 22nd. This figure surpasses all previously reported rainfall amounts. Significant rainfall was also recorded in Veyangoda with 238 mm and Avissawella with 230 mm during the same period.

New reports indicate Kuliyapitiya recorded the highest rainfall of 193 mm in the 24-hour period ending 8:30 AM today (15th). Other significant rainfall figures include Avissawella (Penrith Estate) at 175 mm, Weeyangoda in Gampaha at 162 mm, and Kirindiwela in Gampaha at 152 mm. Heavy rain warnings remain in effect for Western, Sabaragamuwa, and North-western provinces, as well as Galle and Matara districts until 8:30 AM tomorrow (16th).

New reports indicate Avissawella recorded the highest rainfall of 180 mm in the 24-hour period ending 5 AM today (15th), shifting the focus from Puttalam's previous highest figure. Other areas also received significant rainfall, including Hanwella (158 mm), Dehiowita (122 mm), and the Dunamale gauging station of Attanagalu Oya (176 mm). The Kelani River water level continues to rise but remains below warning levels.
