The historic Kandy Esala Perahera has officially concluded following its final procession. The grand Randoli Perahera paraded through the streets on the night of August 27th. The ritualistic water-cutting ceremony (Diya Kepeema) was held this morning, August 28th, at the Mahaweli River in Gatambe, marking the formal end of the festival. Subsequently, a message confirming the successful conclusion of the Perahera was presented to President Anura Kumara Dissanayake by the Diyawadana Nilame and other officials. The President, who also attended the Perahera, later met with the officials and appreciated the participants.
