Judicial Services Association Unanimously Rejects Government's Proposal to Extend Judges' Retirement Age

The Judicial Services Association (JSA) has unanimously rejected a government proposal to extend the retirement age for judges. The decision was made during a special general meeting held on November 11th at the Kaduwela Magistrate's Court premises. Members, comprising Magistrates and District Judges, voted against the proposed extension for Supreme Court and Court of Appeal judges. The JSA has formally communicated its opposition in writing to President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and other key officials. This move reflects significant dissent within the judicial sector regarding the proposed change.
