Japan has pledged a $10 billion financial support package to Asian nations, including Sri Lanka, to help them manage the impact of surging crude oil prices. Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi announced the initiative, named "Power Asia," on Wednesday after a virtual meeting with leaders from Southeast Asian countries. The assistance, primarily structured as loans, is designed to help recipient countries secure vital crude oil supplies and bolster regional energy supply chains. This strategic move aims to mitigate the economic strain caused by the Middle East conflict and ensure the continued flow of petroleum-derived products across Asia.
