Authorities at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) have arrested two Indian nationals in connection with the smuggling of cigarettes. The duo was apprehended by officers of the Police Narcotics Bureau while attempting to remove illegally imported Chinese-manufactured cigarettes valued at Rs. 7.98 million from the airport premises. The suspects, both aged 26 and residents of Hyderabad and Mumbai, India, had reportedly purchased the cigarettes in Cambodia and travelled via Kuala Lumpur. The total seizure included 53,200 cigarettes across two separate interceptions.
