Sri Lanka and India have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) worth Rs. 600 million for modern medical equipment for the new Deniyaya Base Hospital. The agreement, signed yesterday, is part of India’s “Aftermath Cyclone Ditwah Project” aimed at rehabilitating health infrastructure. The new hospital is being relocated to a safer site due to environmental impacts and geological risks identified following Cyclone Ditwah. The MoU was signed by Ministry Secretary Dr. Anil Jasinghe and Indian High Commissioner Santosh Jha, under the patronage of Health Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa.
