Imported Milk Powder Prices Surge in Sri Lanka Amidst Economic Concerns

The Milk Powder Importers’ Association has announced a price increase for imported powdered milk across Sri Lanka. Effective from newly packed items, 400g packets will cost Rs. 50 more, and 1kg packets will see a Rs. 125 hike. The association attributed the adjustment to prevailing market conditions and significant exchange rate fluctuations, particularly the Rupee's depreciation against the US Dollar. This development follows reports that prices for other staples such as sugar, lentils, and rice may also rise in the coming weeks, potentially increasing consumer costs.
