The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) has sealed a factory located in the Homagama Industrial Zone for producing and distributing substandard 6mm steel bars without the mandatory Sri Lanka Standards (SLS) certification. The raid was conducted on May 9th following a tip-off received by CAA officials. Investigations revealed that the factory had been operating at the location for approximately three years, manufacturing and releasing the non-compliant steel bars to the market alongside its other products.
