Health Ministry Holds Urgent Talks to Resolve Medical Student Grievances Ahead of Planned Protest

A planned protest by the Medical Faculty Student Action Committee in Colombo today, May 18th, over several unresolved issues has led to an urgent intervention by the Ministry of Health and Mass Media. Acting Minister Dr. Hansa Wijeyaratne convened a special discussion this afternoon to address the students' concerns. The meeting aimed to find solutions regarding issues such as postgraduate training placements for graduates, new appointments, and the expansion of health services. The ministry has indicated that prompt steps are being taken to resolve these matters through dialogue.
