Sri Lanka's Health Ministry, through its Epidemiology Unit, and the Ministry of Education have jointly issued comprehensive guidelines to control and prevent the spread of Enteroviral Meningitis. These directives are being distributed to all health sectors, institutions, and school authorities nationwide. The guidelines cover suspected symptoms, transmission modes, treatment, laboratory testing, and essential public health and school-based precautions. Enteroviral Meningitis, which disproportionately affects children and individuals with weakened immune systems, was first reported in Deniyaya, Matara District in April. The disease has since been identified in Nuwara Eliya, Kandy, and Badulla districts, prompting these preventative measures.
