G.M.R.D. Aponsu Appointed as New Energy Ministry Secretary

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has appointed G.M.R.D. Aponsu as the new Secretary to the Ministry of Energy. The official letter of appointment was handed over this afternoon, October 17, at the Presidential Secretariat by Presidential Secretary Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake. Mr. Aponsu, a senior officer of the Sri Lanka Planning Service (SLPS), previously served as the Senior Additional Secretary to the President on Finance and Economic Affairs. He brings extensive experience in national planning, state financial management, macroeconomic forecasting, development finance, financial analysis, tax policy, and higher education planning. This appointment follows the resignation of Professor Udayanga Hemapala earlier today.
