Gastritis Affects One in Four Sri Lankans, Health Officials Warn

Health officials in Sri Lanka have revealed that one in every four individuals in the country is affected by gastritis, an inflammation of the stomach lining. Dr. Dhanushi Abenayake, a Specialist in Gastroenterology and Liver Diseases at Embilipitiya District General Hospital, highlighted this as a significant increase observed over recent years. While commonly known by terms like 'gastric' or 'stomach gas', the condition is easily manageable. However, Dr. Abenayake cautioned that neglecting gastritis can lead to more severe health complications.
