Gammanpila Appears Before Parliament Committee, TID Over Statements

Udaya Gammanpila, leader of the Pivithuru Hela Urumaya, appeared before a parliamentary committee on May 5th to provide a statement regarding the controversial release of 323 containers from customs. He noted that the committee had not yet summoned those he considered most responsible for the incident. Gammanpila also provided a statement to the Terrorist Investigation Division (TID) concerning his recent remarks on national security. He asserted that his statements were based on police records and confessions from Easter attack suspects, and that he was cooperating with the police. Gammanpila further indicated he is prepared to prove his claims about the suspicious death of Ranga Rajapaksa with evidence.
