Galewela Flooded: Heavy Rains Displace Families, Waters Rise to Five Feet

Heavy rainfall has triggered severe flooding across the Galewela Divisional Secretariat area, leading to the displacement of numerous families. Overflowing canals and tanks inundated 14 Grama Niladhari divisions, with the areas of Pattivela and Luckywatta near Galewela town being the hardest hit. Floodwaters reportedly rose between three to five feet inside homes, causing significant property damage. Authorities have evacuated affected residents to safer locations, but the total number of displaced individuals is yet to be calculated.
