Four Remanded Over Deraniyagala Police Assault and Drug Possession

Four suspects have been remanded until July 3 in connection with an incident in Deraniyagala that occurred on June 19. The individuals were arrested for allegedly obstructing police duties and assaulting four police officers during a drug raid. Charges against them include being part of an unlawful assembly, assaulting officers, and possessing 24,900 milligrams of "Ice" (crystal methamphetamine). The suspects, who had been receiving treatment at Avissawella Hospital, were produced before the Avissawella Magistrate's Court.
