Four Inmates Escape Kandakadu Rehabilitation Centre, Joint Search Underway

Four inmates escaped from the Kandakadu Treatment and Rehabilitation Centre in Polonnaruwa on April 3rd. This facility, which rehabilitates individuals with drug addiction, had received these inmates approximately three months prior under court orders for counseling. The escapees are reportedly aged between 30 and 40 and hail from the Wilgamuwa, Dambulla, and Manampitiya areas. A joint operation involving both Police and Army personnel has been launched to apprehend them. Authorities have not yet disclosed the reason for their escape.
