Former State Minister Shasheendra Rajapaksa and two others indicted on corruption charges

Former State Minister Shasheendra Rajapaksa, alongside Sepalika Saman Kumari and Keerthi Bandara Kotagama, has been formally indicted on corruption charges by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) in the Colombo High Court. The indictments, filed today, June 19, allege that the accused used their official authority to pressure government officials to secure Rs. 8.85 million in compensation for property, including a building on Sri Lanka Mahaweli Authority land in Sevanagala. This property was reportedly damaged during the period of the "Aragalaya" protests. The case involves 10 charges, with 30 witnesses and 38 documents presented as evidence.
