Former Director of the State Intelligence Service, Suresh Salley, was produced before the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court on April 22, 2026. He appeared alongside two other suspects in a case concerning the alleged misdirection of investigations into the 2019 Easter Sunday attacks. Mr. Salley, identified as the third suspect, is currently detained under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA) and is being questioned under a 90-day detention order. Criminal Investigation Department (CID) officers brought him to court under tight security. The proceedings were held before Colombo Fort Magistrate Isuru Netthikumara, while the other two suspects remain in remand custody.

Former State Intelligence Chief Suresh Salley was further remanded until May 20 by Colombo Fort Magistrate Isuru Netthikumara. The Magistrate ordered the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to present the progress of their investigations on that date, noting that the court was satisfied with the current progress. During the proceedings, Salley was advised by the Magistrate to further consider his request to make a statement before the court. Separately, Lawyer Asith Siriwardena, representing the defense, informed the court that the third suspect in the case wishes to make a special statement before the Magistrate.
