The Colombo Magistrate's Court on April 17 rejected the bail application of Kapila Chandrasena, the former Chief Executive Officer of SriLankan Airlines. Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama issued the order after reviewing submissions from officials of the Bribery Commission and Chandrasena's legal team. Chandrasena is currently in remand custody in connection with allegations of accepting bribes during the purchase of Airbus aircraft for the national carrier. He has been further remanded until April 28.

On May 7th, Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama ordered the immediate arrest of former SriLankan Airlines CEO Kapila Chandrasena. The order was issued to the Bribery Commission following a request, citing allegations that Chandrasena violated his bail conditions and breached the trust of the court. The magistrate also noted a risk of him attempting to flee the country.

Former SriLankan Airlines CEO Kapila Chandrasena has been granted bail by the Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court on May 5. He was released on Rs 5 lakh cash bail and three surety bails of Rs 100 lakh each. The court also issued an order prohibiting him from travelling overseas.

Former SriLankan Airlines CEO Kapila Chandrasena has been further remanded until May 5 by the Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court. Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama ordered that Chandrasena's bail application will be considered, and an order issued, on that date. This decision was made following submissions from the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) and Chandrasena's legal counsel, President's Counsel Rienzie Arsecularatne.
