The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) has arrested Sarath Kongahage, former Chairman of the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation (SLRC), and Devapriya Abeysinghe, its former Director General. They face charges of causing a loss of Rs. 14.32 million to the SLRC. The allegations stem from the recruitment of six employees outside the approved SLRC cadre. These individuals were reportedly assigned to the personal staff of former Minister Keheliya Rambukwella while being paid by the state-owned broadcaster.

It has been further clarified that the six employees recruited beyond the approved staff limit were hired on a contract basis as drivers and subsequently assigned to then-Minister Keheliya Rambukwella's political office. The remand order until April 17 was issued by Colombo Additional Magistrate R.D. Janaka.

The remand order for former SLRC Chairman Sarath Kongahage and former Director General Devapriya Abeysinghe until April 17 was issued by the Aluthkade Additional Magistrate.

Following their arrest, former SLRC Chairman Sarath Kongahage and former Director General Devapriya Abeysinghe have been remanded until April 17. The order was issued by the Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court after they were produced before the court today, April 7th.
