Former Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation (SLRC) Chairman Sarath Kongahage and former Additional Director General Devapriya Abeysinghe have been granted bail by the Colombo Magistrate's Court. The two officials were previously arrested and remanded by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) in connection with corruption allegations. Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama issued the order after considering submissions from both CIABOC officials and the suspects' legal counsel. Each suspect was ordered to be released on two personal bails of Rs. 1 million, with a prohibition on foreign travel also imposed. The case is scheduled to be heard again in September.
