Former SIS Chief Suresh Sallay's Detention Extended 90 Days in Easter Attacks Probe

Former State Intelligence Service Director Major General (Retd.) Suresh Sallay has been placed under a new 90-day detention order as investigations into the 2019 Easter Sunday terror attacks continue. The extension, approved under the Prevention of Terrorism Act, permits the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to further question Sallay, who was initially arrested in February. Court submissions indicate that prosecutors allege Sallay obstructed the investigation by withholding key information and providing false details, with recent proceedings also hearing claims of a "premeditated medical conspiracy" designed to hinder the probe. The latest order comes as his previous detention period was nearing its expiry.
