Former Presidential Aide Sugeeshwara Bandara Arrested Over Dual Salary Allegations

Former Presidential Aide Sugeeshwara Bandara, who was previously remanded until July 01, 2026, has had new details emerge regarding the duration of his alleged dual salary receipt. It has been revealed that Bandara is accused of receiving salaries from two state institutions for nearly two years during his tenure.

Former Presidential Aide Sugeeshwara Bandara has been remanded until July 01, 2026, by the Colombo Fort Magistrate's Court. He was arrested on June 18, 2026, in connection with allegations of drawing salaries from two government institutions and misappropriating state funds under the Presidential expenditure head, leading to his arrest under the Public Property Act. It was revealed in court that the funds were credited to former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa's personal account. Bandara is also identified as the leader of the Nava Janatha Peramuna.

Former Presidential Aide Sugeeshwara Bandara, arrested by the Colombo Central Criminal Investigation Bureau (CCIU), is alleged to have received salaries as both a Presidential Private Secretary and a Project Director during former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa's tenure. He has since been produced before the Fort Magistrate's Court.
