Former President Rajapaksa Testifies in Lalith-Kugan Disappearance Case, Cites Memory Lapses

Former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa provided evidence virtually on Tuesday (29) in the ongoing case concerning the disappearance of social activists Lalith Kumar Weeraraj and Kugan Muruganandan. Testifying from the Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court for proceedings before the Jaffna Magistrate's Court, Rajapaksa repeatedly stated he "could not remember" key incidents due to the passage of time. He also rejected allegations linking him to abductions and disappearances during his tenure as Defence Secretary. The court adjourned further recording of evidence until November 27.
