Former President Rajapaksa, Ex-Minister Jayaratne Summoned by Bribery Commission Over Airbus Deal Probe

Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa and former Minister Priyankara Jayaratne have been summoned to appear before the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) on May 12, 2026. The summons is in connection with an ongoing investigation into the controversial Airbus aircraft procurement deal for SriLankan Airlines. The probe reportedly involves allegations of bribery related to the 2013 purchase of Airbus A-330 and A-350 aircraft, with claims of US$2 million in bribes. The former CEO of SriLankan Airlines, Kapila Chandrasena, has also faced legal proceedings in relation to this deal.
