Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa Reveals 'Big Plan' for Political Power, SLPP to Skip May Day Rally

Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa announced a "big plan" to regain political power in the New Year, stating that the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) is prepared for an imminent political change. He also confirmed that the SLPP will not hold its traditional May Day rally this year. This decision was made because International Labour Day coincides with Vesak Poya day, with the party opting instead to engage in religious observances. Rajapaksa made these statements on April 20 as activities resumed at the SLPP's Nelum Mawatha party headquarters following the Sinhala and Tamil New Year, an event also attended by National Organizer Namal Rajapaksa.
