The Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court has imposed an overseas travel ban on former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and two military officers. This order, issued on June 3, 2026, is in connection with the ongoing investigation into the 2019 Easter Sunday terror attacks. Magistrate Pasan Amarasekara issued the directive after considering a motion filed by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). The travel restrictions were put in place during proceedings where retired Major General Suresh Sallay, a former Director of the State Intelligence Service, is also named as a suspect. The Court Registrar has been instructed to promptly forward the order to the Controller of Immigration and Emigration.
