Former Monk Rajangane Saddharathana Assaulted, Robbed at Temple

Former monk Rajangane Saddharathana was assaulted and robbed at his temple in the Srawasthipura area. According to police reports, two unidentified individuals forcibly entered his residential quarters, attacked him, and stole two mobile phones and a laptop. The injured former monk has been admitted to Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital for treatment. Police investigations are underway to identify and apprehend the suspects. Separately, the monk was reportedly arrested on May 8, 2026, by the Central Criminal Investigation Bureau in connection with social media threats made against several high-ranking officials.
