Former Minister Johnston Fernando, His Sons, and Officials Granted Bail in Lanka Sathosa Lorry Case

The Negombo High Court on March 31, 2026, granted bail to two sons of former Minister Johnston Fernando, Johan and Jerome Fernando, along with two former Lanka Sathosa officials – a former Working Director and a former Transport Manager. This development follows the Wattala Magistrate's Court's decision on March 24 to release former Minister Johnston Fernando himself on bail. He had been in remand custody for approximately four months in connection with the same investigation. All individuals were arrested and remanded following an investigation by the Police Financial Crimes Investigation Division (FCID) into the alleged misuse of a Lanka Sathosa lorry. The former minister's bail conditions included a Rs. 25,000 cash bail and four sureties of Rs. 500,000 each, with the case expected to be recalled on July 10.
