Former Chief Monk Provides Blood Sample for DNA Test in Minor Abuse Investigation

Former Anuradhapura Atamasthanadhipathi, Ven. Pallegama Hemarathana Thera, provided a blood sample for a DNA test on Tuesday, June 16. This action is part of an ongoing investigation into allegations of abuse of a minor girl. The sample was collected at the Department of the Government Analyst by Nittambuwa Police officers. This was done in compliance with an order issued by the Anuradhapura Chief Magistrate on Friday, June 12. The monk had previously been released on bail after being produced before the Anuradhapura court in connection with the case. The court also directed the Government Analyst to submit the DNA test report.
