Sri Lanka's expressways generated over Rs. 124 million in revenue during the recent two-day public holiday period of August 26 and 27. A total of 325,316 vehicles utilized the expressway network, with the Southern Expressway (E01) and the Outer Circular Expressway (E02) recording the highest traffic volumes. The Ministry of Transport and Highways attributed the surge in usage and revenue to the extended weekend holiday. The Road Development Authority reported that on August 26, 163,763 vehicles generated Rs. 60.4 million, followed by 161,553 vehicles on August 27 earning Rs. 64.1 million.
