Former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa was summoned to the Financial Crimes Investigation Division (FCID) on November 11 to record a statement concerning the purchase of MiG aircraft. Rajapaksa, who served as the Secretary of the Ministry of Defence during the time of the transaction, appeared before the FCID as part of the ongoing investigation. This follows a similar appearance by former Air Force Commander Air Chief Marshal Roshan Goonetileke, who provided a statement to the FCID on November 10 regarding the same deal. Goonetileke reportedly spent over five hours at the FCID premises.

Ex-President Gotabaya Rajapaksa appeared at the FCID today and gave a statement concerning the MiG deal inquiry and has since left the premises. He served as Defence Secretary at the time of the 2006 procurement and refurbishment of MiG-27 fighter aircraft from Ukraine. Former Air Force Commander, Marshal of the Air Force Roshan Goonetileke, also recorded a statement with the FCID for over five hours yesterday regarding the investigation.
