Eran Wickramaratne Resigns from SJB Posts Following Cricket Committee Appointment

Former Member of Parliament Eran Wickramaratne has resigned from his positions within the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) party, including its Executive Committee and Management Committee. This decision follows his recent appointment as the Chairman of the Sri Lanka Cricket Transformation Committee. While Mr. Wickramaratne informed the party leadership of his resignations, the SJB also formally requested that he relinquish his full party membership, aligning with its policy against politicians holding sports governing body roles. Mr. Wickramaratne reportedly made his decision to safeguard the independence and transparency of the cricket committee. SJB General Secretary Ranjith Madduma Bandara confirmed these developments.
