The All Ceylon Egg Producers’ Association has announced a price increase for eggs, effective from tomorrow, July 20th. The selling price of a white egg will now be Rs. 41, and a red egg Rs. 42. Association Chairman Sarath Ratnayake stated at a media briefing in Kuliyapitiya that the government and relevant authorities are directly responsible for the hike. He cited severe shortages in poultry feed supplies, stemming from the complete suspension of maize imports and insufficient local production, as the primary cause.
