The Ministry of Education has initiated the distribution of activity books for Grade 1 students for the 2026 academic year, specifically covering the second and third terms. This move is part of ongoing education reforms, with the aim to complete deliveries to all schools by April 30th. Concurrently, curriculum awareness and teacher training programs for Grade 1 have been conducted for provincial primary subject directors, teacher advisors, trainers, and teachers. Provincial directors have also been instructed to finalize any necessary additional training by May 16th. Furthermore, principals are advised to ensure that any Grade 1 first-term subject content not covered can be completed during the upcoming second school term.

In a new development, Deputy Minister Madhura Seneviratne has also commented on the ongoing education reforms, confirming that teacher training for Grade 1 is scheduled for completion by mid-May, and that the distribution of activity books is currently underway.

The Ministry of Education has clarified that the ongoing distribution of Grade 1 activity books and associated teacher training programs for 2026 are being conducted under new education reforms. Secretary Nalaka Kaluwewa also specified that curriculum awareness and teacher training have been provided to provincial primary subject directors, teacher advisors, trainers, and teachers.

The Ministry of Education has confirmed that the distribution of Grade 1 activity books is specifically for Terms II and III of 2026. The distribution process, which began earlier this month, is scheduled to be completed in all schools by April 30. Additionally, teacher training and syllabus awareness programs have already been conducted for relevant education officials and teachers.
