Sri Lanka Customs officers at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) arrested a 23-year-old Dominican national on June 20, 2026. The student was attempting to smuggle 37 kilograms of hashish, valued at approximately Rs. 377 million, into the country. The drugs were reportedly obtained in Canada and brought via Dubai, concealed within the suspect's luggage. He attempted to pass through the 'Gold Route' special passenger terminal.
