Deputy Minister Watagala: Government Steadfast Against Corruption, Ensuring Equal Law

Deputy Minister Sunil Watagala has asserted that the current government is committed to eradicating corruption and fraud, taking significant steps forward within its two-year tenure. Speaking at public forums, Watagala stated the government operates with a clear conscience, free from involvement in corrupt practices, and is dedicated to upholding the rule of law equally for all citizens. He highlighted that 55 individuals with warrants for crimes and drug trafficking have been brought back to the island, demonstrating the application of law. Watagala also claimed past rulers gained power through false promises and lacked accountability, contrasting them with his government, which he stated remains steadfast in fulfilling its pledges and will not be deterred by protests. Efforts are also underway to streamline state institutions through digital technology.
