Deputy Minister of Transport and Highways, Prasanna Gunasena, has announced that strict legal action will be taken against individuals responsible for causing damage to the newly renovated Pettah Central Bus Stand in Colombo. During an inspection tour on August 10th, the Deputy Minister stated that the vandalism appears to be an organized and planned act. He highlighted that faucets installed in the women's toilets were removed on the first day after the stand was opened to the public on August 8th, reinstalled, and subsequently removed again on August 9th. Gunasena emphasized that such damage to public property, funded by taxpayers, would not be tolerated. He assured that enhanced security measures would be implemented, potentially involving collaboration with the Sri Lanka Air Force, to prevent further incidents.
