Department for Registration of Persons Suspends Services Nationwide on April 17th Due to System Breakdown

The Department for Registration of Persons (DRP) has announced that all public services, including one-day services, will be suspended at its head office and all provincial offices on Friday, April 17, 2026. This decision stems from an emergency computer system breakdown that is currently undergoing restoration. Commissioner General H.M.J.M. Herath issued the notification, confirming that efforts to rectify the technical issues are in progress. Citizens are advised to plan accordingly, as services are expected to resume once the system's stability is ensured.
