Defence Secretary Holds Bilateral Meetings with Vietnamese and Russian Counterparts

Sri Lanka's Defence Secretary, Air Vice Marshal (Retd) Sampath Thuyacontha, has engaged in significant bilateral discussions with high-ranking officials from Vietnam and Russia. On May 8, he met with Vietnam’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence, General Phan Van Giang, and his delegation in Colombo, where the focus was on strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing defence cooperation. The Defence Secretary also conveyed gratitude for Vietnam's continued support. Later, on May 26, while in Moscow for an international security forum, he held talks with Russian Deputy Defence Minister Vasily Osmakov. These discussions centred on exchanging views on regional and global security challenges and exploring defence cooperation.
