Customs Intercept Rs. 1 Crore Illegal Medicine Smuggle at BIA, Four Apprehended

Customs officials at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in Katunayake arrested four Sri Lankan passengers early this morning for attempting to illegally import a large consignment of Western medicines. The seized drugs, including injections, pills, capsules, and ointments, are estimated to be worth approximately one crore Sri Lankan Rupees. The suspects, comprising three men aged between 18 and 25 and a 45-year-old woman, arrived from Bangalore, India. They were apprehended while trying to exit through the airport's "Green Channel" with eight bags containing the undeclared pharmaceuticals. All four individuals are residents of the Colombo area.
