Court to Rule on Medical Board Request for Ex-Intelligence Chief Suresh Sallay on June 10

The Colombo Fort Magistrate's Court has scheduled June 10 to issue an order concerning a request by the Attorney General to direct the referral of former Head of State Intelligence, Major General (Retired) Suresh Sallay, to a specialist medical board. Sallay is currently being detained under the Prevention of Terrorism Act in connection with the ongoing investigation into the Easter Sunday attacks. The court heard arguments on the request and a motion filed on Sallay's behalf on June 4. During the proceedings, Additional Solicitor General Dilip Peiris reportedly questioned Sallay's mental state, suggesting he is a highly skilled actor. The main case proceedings have been adjourned until July 1.
