Court Orders Apple Assistance to Unlock Ex-SriLankan CEO's Phone in Death Probe

A magisterial inquiry into the death of former SriLankan Airlines Chief Executive Officer Kapila Chandrasena was held today (12) before Colombo Fort Magistrate Pasan Amarasena. Officers from the Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) updated the court on the ongoing investigation, submitting a further report and documents related to the post-mortem examination. The court granted approval for two blood samples from the deceased to be sent to the Government Analyst’s Department for forensic analysis. In a significant development, the magistrate also ordered Apple to provide technical assistance to unlock Chandrasena's mobile phone, which is reportedly secured by facial recognition.
