Court Acquits Caroline Jurie and Chula Padmendra in Mrs. Sri Lanka Crown Incident

Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama today ordered the acquittal and release of former Mrs. World Caroline Jurie and model Chula Padmendra. They were charged in connection with the forcible removal of Pushpika De Silva's crown and alleged assault during the 2021 Mrs. Sri Lanka pageant held at the Nelum Pokuna Theatre. Delivering the verdict, the Chief Magistrate stated that the prosecution had failed to prove the charges against the defendants beyond a reasonable doubt. This ruling concludes the legal proceedings stemming from the controversial incident.
