COPF Chairman Rejects Treasury Report Sent to Private Residence

A Treasury report concerning the diversion of US$2.5 million to an external party was sent to the private residence of Dr. Harsha de Silva, Chairman of the Committee on Public Finance (COPF). Dr. de Silva rejected the report, stating it was intended for the committee's review in Parliament, not for his personal use at home. The report was reportedly sent by the Secretary to the Ministry of Finance, who indicated it was for Dr. de Silva's personal consumption. The COPF had requested the detailed report to discuss the transaction, with the ministry having previously agreed and requested four weeks to provide it.
