Cooperative Hospital System to Undergo Digitization and Integration with National Health Policy

A special discussion was held on October 2nd at the Ministry of Health and Mass Media, chaired by Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa, focusing on the Cooperative Hospital System. The primary objective was to integrate the system with the national health policy to enhance public health services and efficiently utilize its resources as a neutral service provider between government and private healthcare sectors. Discussions covered the system's current operations and its digitization process. Minister Jayatissa announced that the Cooperative Department is implementing a program for the digitization of these hospitals, with a leading private computer service company reportedly offering to provide these services free of charge as a corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative. Plans also include improving the quality of the Cooperative Hospital System through training provided by government hospitals.
