Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) officials raided a cream manufacturing facility in Kawdupalella, Matale, on April 7. The operation revealed that the facility lacked the necessary licenses and approvals to produce the specific cream products. Investigations indicated that the establishment purchased creams in bulk from other manufacturers, repackaged them under its own branding, and then distributed them to tourist destinations and spice gardens across the island. These products, sometimes marketed as natural cosmetics or Ayurvedic creams, were reportedly sold at exorbitant prices, particularly to foreign tourists. The raid was initiated following an investigation into a related establishment in Mawanella.
